Nintendo Announces Mario Strikers Battle League, A New Soccer Game

The company today announced Mario Strikers Battle League at Nintendo’s Direct Presentation. This is a brand new, action-oriented take on soccer. Although the game will release on June 10, preorders can be made now. 

Battle League, a reimagining of the original game, pits five-man teams against one another to score, you guessed it, more goals than their opponent. The game is playable solo, but it can also be played with up to eight players in multiplayer. You can even join online soccer leagues.

All of the gear options are shown in the trailer, which can change or improve players stats. Taking a cue from other Nintendo-themed sports games, Battle League encourages players to use various attacks against their opponents – including, but not limited to, tackles, shell attacks, and “hyper strikes,” which appear to be very powerful attacks. 

Pre-orders are now available for Battle League from Nintendo. On June 10, the game will release for Nintendo Switch.
