Nintendo 64 And Sega Genesis Games Coming To Nintendo Switch Online [UPDATE]

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will launch later today. For a single subscription of $49.99, the price for the entire service is set at $59.99. The family plan will be $79.99. The pricing for existing Switch Online subscribers has yet to be announced. All of the Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and Nintendo Switch Online games will be included in the upgraded subscription. Nintendo recently announced the upcoming paid Animal Crossing expansion DLC, Happy Home Paradise, will be included with the Online + Expansion Pack service for no additional charge.

Today, Nintendo Direct announced the availability of a number of old Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64 titles on the Nintendo Switch’s online subscription. 

Nintendo announced that they will soon be offering a new membership through Nintendo Online. Through this plan, you can play titles like The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64. It will be available to up to four Switch owners, and allow them to both play locally and online. 

Nintendo announced that it would add Sega Genesis games on Nintendo Switch Online through the same membership program.  The trailer featured games like Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Streets of Rage 2 or Ecco the Dolphin.

Nintendo did not specify a release date, however Nintendo stated that it will be available in October. It will also include all the basic elements of Nintendo Switch Online. It’s called the “Nintendo Switch Online + Extension Pack” by Nintendo. Customers with existing plans can continue to use their current plans, although they will also be able change their membership plans. Nintendo has not yet revealed pricing but said it will soon.
