New Wallace & Gromit movie, Chicken Run 2 headed to Netflix

Wallace & Gromit are back, Netflix announced Thursday morning.

The pair will get a new film at the streaming giant — although, in the UK, it will debut first on the BBC before coming to Netflix. The studio shared key details regarding the film. Chicken RunAardman Animations sequel with the same cast, 2023 release window and a new subtitle Dawn of the Nugget.

Wallace & Gromit creator, Nick Park, will co-direct the duo’s untitled stop-motion-animated movie with Aardman’s creative director, Merlin Crossingham. Mark Burton — known for writing animated films like Shaun the Sheep, MadagascarPlease see the following: Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit — will write the movie. A 2024 release date has been set for the animated film. Aardman is already in the process of storyboarding.

While the new Wallace & Gromit film doesn’t have a title yet, we do know a bit about the plot. Wallace, the cheese-enthused, sweater-wearing inventor and Gromit, his strangely skilled dog, are back at their workshop. Wallace invents a “smart gnome,” which he quickly loses control of, leaving Gromit to clean up the mess and save the day.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the NuggetGinger, Rocky and Rocky have new voice actors. Thandiwe Watson will play Ginger while Zachery Levi will take on Rocky. Bella Ramsey will play the duo’s daughter, Molly.

Soon after the premiere, the sequel is set. Chicken Run, with Ginger and Rocky safe on an island after their big escape from Tweedy’s farm. The crew begins a series of escapes to help save thousands more chickens. Sam Fell directs the film. Flushed AwayAnd ParaNorman Fame will only be available to Netflix in the next year.
