New Velma trailer shows off Mindy Kaling’s take on the Scooby Gang

Scooby Doo and the Scooby Gang are back! But this time, Velma is the main focus. Oh, and this isn’t the Scooby gang you grew up with on Saturday mornings. This version has the characters swearing and doing drugs. The crimes are not just an old man wearing a costume and scaring off property owners.

New trailer VelmaMindy Kaling’s adult animated comedy, titled “The Mystery Inc. Detectives in High School”, introduces us the characters of this high school version. Velma (Mindy Kaling) is a nerdy loser who thinks she’s better than the popular girls because she uses her brain. Velma is the main suspect in an investigation into a mysterious death in Velma’s gym locker.

In order to unravel this mystery, Daphne, hot-looking Daphne (Constance Wu), Fred (Glenn Howerton), her friend Norville, also aka Shaggy, (Sam Richardson) team up. But because this is high school, there’s a LotsIt is difficult to deal with interpersonal drama. Daphne and Velma were once friends, but they are bitter enemies. However, they share some commonalities. Moment in the trailer, where their hands brush and the background becomes pink… so, is there a friends-to-enemies-to-lovers arc in their future? It is only possible to hope.
