New Tales from the Borderlands release date announced at Gamescom ONL

Gearbox Software has a new Borderlands episodic narrative adventure coming this October, picking up where Telltale Games’ excellent 2015 game series, TalesFrom the BorderlandsThe beginning. Instead of focusing solely on Rhys, Fiona and the other heroes in the Tales series, this new game is appropriately titled Tales from the Borderlands: New Tales, will give players control of three new characters that Gearbox calls “lovable losers” on a world-saving adventure.

That trio of non-heroes includes Anu, an “altruistic scientist,” her wannabe-streetwise (but amusingly hapless) brother Octavio, and Fran, the owner of a froyo shop in the metropolis of Promethea. These three are clearly not Vault Hunter material; they’re “downtrodden, intrepid civilians” trying to survive an invasion of their home world by weapons manufacturer Tediore.

The trailer has humor and action as well as what looks like an action-figure battle or a game with sharks. The original trailer is similar Tales from the Borderlands, players won’t be concerned with first-person shooting and loot-grabbing. Tales from the Borderlands: New TalesIt’s all about the narrative decisions, and how they play out will be determined by the choices made.

Tales from the BorderlandsTelltale Games developed the franchise and released one story per episode. The franchise, which was owned by Borderlands in 2018 after Telltale Games had closed its doors, was purchased by 2K Games. 2K Games will publish the new Borderlands game. It was developed by Gearbox, a Borderlands studio.
