New Pac-Man movie will be live action, somehow

Pac-Man, the latest video game franchise that has been given blockbuster treatment, is it?

That’s right! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wayfarer is producing a live-action film about the hungry yellow circle. This movie was created from an original concept by Sonic the Hedgehog Chuck Williams, associate producer (2020). Wayfarer will be partnered with Pac-Man developer Bandai Namco.

Pac-ManThis simple form was first introduced in America in 1980. You control a yellow circle that moves through a maze. It must avoid ghosts while eating pellets. Originally an arcade game, Pac-Man is now available on various consoles, mobile applications, and is even playable in your internet browser after a simple Google search of “Pac-Man” (something learned while writing this article).

There is no further detail about how the “plot” of Pac-Man or its visual aesthetic will translate to live action. Pac-Man will be joining a host of other video-game-related movies, such as the Illumination movie Super Mario Bros., in which Chris Pratt will play Mario. Pac-Man’s casting has yet to be announced.
