New Lords Of The Fallen Patch Makes The Game Easier And Adds Full Crossplay

Lords of the Fallen was released by CI Games, a soft-reboot of the Lords of the Fallen 2014 game, and Hexworks earlier in the month on Friday the thirteenth. It didn’t quite land for us – Play Informer gave it a 6 out of 10 – but a new update that launches later today fixes one of the major problems we had with the soulslike. The new Pumpkin Patch Update, which launches at 2 pm PT/5 pm ET today, will fix this problem. Today, the new update to Pumpkin Patch will have a lower enemy density. The patch also brings crossplay and performance fixes to the game. 

A special Halloween event is also included in the update, which starts today until November 2nd. 

The update states: “Experience Mournstead dressed in seasonal decor and the release of The Pumpkin Patch on all platforms, which introduces fresh gameplay mechanics based on community feedback.” The update includes a new questline which will enable players to acquire the Pumpkin Mask – “a terrifying helm inspired from the iconic Jack-o-Lantern.” 

Hexworks also revamped Lords of the Fallen’s New Game Plus with a tiered system. Vestiges, the game’s version of Dark Souls’ bonfire checkpoints, are introduced to the mode. Each new level of NG+ eliminates even more Vestiges, making every run harder than the previous one. 

Hexworks has provided a detailed breakdown of the changes that will be coming to The Pumpkin Patch Update: 

• Revamped New Game Plus (NG+) – A new tiered NG+ system introduces Vestiges to the game mode; each higher level of NG+ removes more Vestiges from the game, increasing player difficulty.
• Crossplay – Players can now experience full crossplay functionality between all PC and console platforms. It follows on from the launch of the crossplay feature between Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players for the first time earlier this week.
• Reducing enemy density – A reduction of the enemy density in areas observed as being most challenging for players.
• Performance & stability – Further performance and stability fixes across all platforms.

Lords of the Fallen’s Pumpkin Patch update will go live tomorrow, with a Halloween event that lasts from today until Tuesday.
