New Lord of the Rings movies are on their way

Warner Bros. is working on new Lord of the Rings movies. In an investor conference, Discovery made the announcement Thursday.

The timeline and scope of the projects are not known. However, Warner Bros. entered into a contract with Embracer Group AB which purchased the rights to Lord of the Rings games and movies.

It isn’t the first time that we have returned to Middle-earth since the enormous success of our original. Lord of the Rings trilogy: Peter Jackson returns to the director’s chair for three movies that are based on his work The Hobbit.Prime Video’s high-budget TV show set in Middle-earth. The Rings of Power, debuted its first season in 2022, but didn’t have access to all of Tolkien’s writing as source material. Animation movie The War of the RohirrimIt is currently scheduled for 2024.

Warner Bros. has been through many changes. Discovery, following the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery in 2022 and the appointment of David Zaslav as the company’s CEO. DC Studios was another of the major franchises and recently saw a leadership change. The company now has an exciting plan for future DC movies.
