New Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Trailer Sheds More Light On Protagonist Shez

Nintendo has released a new Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes trailer that showcases the “mysterious mercenary” players will control when the musou hits Switch on June 24.

Aptly titled the “Mysterious Mercenary Trailer,” it begins with a spar or all-out fight between the female version of Byleth and a purple-haired male warrior. Byleth clearly has the advantage here and later in the trailer, it’s revealed they’re the Ashen Demon, presumably helping the game’s main antagonist, the Ashen Dragon. We learn, however, that Shez, the purple-haired warrior, is what Three Hopes’ protagonists will be controlling. Fire Emblem 3: Three Houses allows you to choose between a male and female Shez. The trailer also indicates that the players can pick between a male and female Byleth.

You can see the trailer here:

You can see more in the trailer. As expected, there are “three diverging paths,” with each path following one of the main houses of Three Houses: Scarlet Blaze (Black Eagles), Azure Gleam (Blue Lions), and Golden Wildfire (Golden Deer). The path you choose to follow will determine the battles you select on the field, the playable characters and allies you’ll have on your side, and more.

We also get to see some of Three Houses’ inspirations in Three Hopes. You can now use special partner moves, battle preparation tactics and base camp exploration. To grow stronger, you can train together with your friends to unlock new classes for battle. The trailer suggests that the antagonist of the film was intended to be a mercenary who fades away into history. Instead, they’re challenging the mighty Ashen Dragon and new stories will unfold in Fódlan as a result as you meet and help Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude.

Three Hopes, a Warriors Musou game, features deep strategy and 1 vs. 1,000-style battles. You can also expect to have the opportunity to expand your collection of characters, allies and moves.
