New DreamWorks animated series is horror for (older) kids
Finally, DreamWorks Animation’s mysterious Fright Krewe has a trailer, and it looks like everything I could’ve dreamed of.
Fright KreweDreamWorks is bringing back 2D animation, which it has largely abandoned in their television series. It’s also A serialized horror show for older children. Be still my beating heart! The show was first announced in June, but information has been scant, save for some basic plot details and the fact that it’s helmed by director Eli Roth (Hostel) and YA science fiction author James Frey (I am Number Four).
In the trailer for the movie, we can see a bunch of teens who are misfits awaken the VooDoo queen and ghosts, which gives them magic powers. The teens must then use their newfound powers to protect New Orleans against a variety of supernatural beings including vampires and demons. Sydney Mikayla is Soleil. Tim Johnson Jr. plays Maybe. Grace Lu is Missy. Chester Rushing voices Stanley. Terrence Little Gardnerhigh voice Pat. Jacques Colimon voice Belial.
Fright Krewe hits Hulu and Peacock on Oct. 2 — just in time for Halloween season.
