Netflix’s new Spy Kids movie is for the Roblox generation

To stay in touch with young people today, you need to be connected with technology. It makes perfect sense, then, that the latest generation of Spy Kids would accidentally release a supervillain while playing a game.

Yes, that’s right — there’s a new Spy Kids movie for today’s kids and it’s coming out this September. According to Spy Kids’ formula, two children discover their parents are secret agents. They had some involvement in the global disaster. It’s kinda likeSpy Kids 3, Game OverThe game is brought to life in the first episode, unlike the previous one, where the agents entered a virtual world. They are also more knowledgeable in how to battle the characters, and jump into game levels.

Some experiences, however, are universal. The kids find a sickly safehouse just as Carmen and Juni did in the first Spy Kids. We’ll have to see if that safe house comes with one of those microwaves that instantly rehydrates full meals, but it does come with a sweet closet that generates a full spy outfit. There’s also cool gadgets and over-the-top villains — basically everything a Spy Kid could want.
