NetEase Announces Bad Brain Game Studios To Work On Open-World Game Inspired By ’80s Movies

NetEase Games announced that a new studio in Canada has been founded. Sean Crooks will be the head of this studio, an ex-Ubisoft executive with credits from Just Dance and Driver all the way to Watch Dogs. Other members of the team include developers who have worked on series like Splinter Cell, Army of Two, Far Cry, and Child of Light.

The team wants to launch a new series with its first effort. This is a story-driven, open-world action/adventure game that takes inspiration from 1980s horror and action films. Bad Brain will use Unreal Engine 5 in order to create its debut game, which is set to launch on multiple platforms.

Crooks, in a statement to the press said: “I am honored to be heading this talented Canadian team of developers.” We’re passionate about creating meaningful and memorable experiences. NetEase is based out of China and views the deal as an investment into Canada’s game development industry.
