National Treasure Disney Plus series adds familiar face: Harvey Keitel

This is the absurd and yet charming National Treasure The franchise was mostly inactive since 2007 as it waited for the stars align to reunite director Jon Turteltaub and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Bruckheimer said to Collider two years ago that he was now working on his third movie. A TV spinoff. It was titled National Treasure, Edge of History This series offers treasure hunters a fresher perspective. Disney Plus revealed Thursday that Harvey Keitel, a franchise veteran, will return to the series at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

Keitel starred as Keitel in National Treasure Book of Secrets: National Treasure: Book of Secrets Peter Sadusky plays the role of a veteran FBI agent who has a special place for Benjamin Gates (Cage). He is a history buff and resourceful with a talent for finding lost treasure. The premiere date for this series of 10 episodes is unknown. Keitel will play the same role. The actor’s been dabbling in TV of late: He recently wrapped Mike, a Hulu series about Mike Tyson, and also appeared in Netflix’s The Irishman.

Edge of History will open a new chapter in the franchise — where the 2004 and 2007 movies center on Gates, the TV series will follow Jess Morales (Lisette Olivera), a 20-something DREAMer who also loves puzzles and riddles. The series, written by Marianne Wibberley, Cormac Wibberley, and directed by Mira Nair will examine the intersection of patriotism and identity.

It also features Jordan Rodrigues and Zuri Reed as well as Antonio Cipriano and Catherine Zeta Jones. You’ll also see familiar faces and names: Justin Bartha plays Riley Poole, while the Wibberleys made the original two films. National TreasureMovies, Cage is to be a guest-star. Here’s hoping Cage was able to find the time to play mentor to this new group.
