MultiVersus Preview – MultiVersus Alpha | New Gameplay Today

DLC support has been added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ended with the addition of Sora, many wondered what would be next for a subgenre that Nintendo was no longer pioneering in the near future. MultiVersus is the potential answer this year, and we are showcasing some of our favorite characters and stages on this episode of New Gameplay Today.

Your hosts Alex Stadnik, John Carson and John Carson will share everything about the time they spent playing Player First Games’ new closed-alpha title. This free-to-play platform brawler includes some of the greatest characters from all over the globe, like Bugs Bunny and Batman. There’s even a Scooby-Doo version of Scooby-Doo’s Shaggy, who apparently was hanging out with Goku. These two GI editors want to share their thoughts on the first couple of hours playing the game, and what icons they love the most.

Also, they discuss their opinions on the game’s comparison to Super Smash Bros. as well as why some in-game decisions can make the difference. MultiVersus is different from other similar games. It requires players to pay attention to team compositions and the various status effects. Characters can add freezing, burning, and weakening effects to their opponents in their quest to gain the upper hand in closer-quarters-combat in ways that feel natural and add a new layer of challenge. MultiVersus’s first impression is a combination of interesting stages and an apparent care for detail.

You’ll find all this and more on Game Informer. For more information on John’s preview and our videos with no commentary on a handful of familiar faces, be sure to listen to the episode of The GI Show this week for our thoughts on time spent working with closed-alpha.
