MultiVersus: How to get gold and unlock all the characters and perks

Gold is one of the main virtual currencies in Warner Bros.’ new Smash Bros.-like platform fighting game, MultiVersus. Fitting in with the game’s free-to-play model, gold serves as the non-paid currency that can be earned from just playing the game, and there are quite a few ways to get your hands on it.

This guide will share why you need it and how to rack it up so you won’t be spending your actual cash on certain unlockables in the game.

What’s the point of gold?

You can unlock characters, which is perhaps the best use. The game offers a rotation of characters that can be unlocked, however players must purchase any other fighters. Real money can be used to buy fighters, or it can be traded for Gleamium in the in-game currency.

While every character can be bought with gold, the same can’t be said for the alternate skins for said characters. Certain skins, such as the classic Iron Giant skin that lacks the Superman-inspired “S” chest emblem, can be purchased for 250 gold. But most skins that completely change a character’s attire are Gleamium-exclusive.

To unlock the equippable perks that you can use for your character in the game, gold is also available. Your character will gain perk after reaching level 9. Each character also has its own perks. These perks allow your teammates and fighters to gain new capabilities, bonuses, and buffs in combat. While you can unlock some character-exclusive benefits by leveling up and playing the characters, non-exclusive benefits can also be unlocked with gold.

How can I get more Gold?

One of the initial ways to earn gold is through “Starter Missions.” These serve as the tutorial of MultiVersus. To start earning around 2,000 Gold, you must complete these missions. This is the same amount as what many characters cost. Once you finish that, the other ways to get more gold become a bit more active, but they aren’t too difficult or confusing.

As with many other free-to-play or live-service titles. MultiVersusThere are daily tasks that you can complete to make quick money. These dailies can be done in both online matches and offline AI matches, unless it’s specified as a mission that’s exclusive to a single mode.

The Battle Pass and leveling up characters will give you some gold. The Battle Pass doesn’t have to be purchased in order for players to use it; it has free tiers, which earn currency if you complete them. To earn 250 gold, you can reach Level 2, an example of an early free level on Battle Pass.

You can unlock new characters as you progress and earn 100 gold for each fighter by playing as them and raising their level to 5. You can get 1,600 extra gold if all your characters are level 5 or higher. Also, you can claim 100 gold for every level up in your WB account.

Gold can also be earned by winning matches. Invite a friend to play in your team with you and increase the gold gained this way by 30 percent. A friend can also give you an extra 30% of XP, which goes towards character progression.

You can earn even more gold by using the toast system. Toasting you gives you 25 gold from their virtual wallet. This way of earning gold isn’t reliable, but when it does happen, it’s a bit of extra money you can throw in the way of more unlockable characters or perks.

This guide will be continually updated to reflect changes in how to unlock gold.
