MoviePass relaunches with a new model and without the iconic red card
In early 2018, MoviePass was at its best. $9.95 per month bought unlimited Movies. Remember when MoviePass suffered a loss of $40 million dollars in May 2018, and then tried to rebuild the company, but failed, until finally giving up in 2019.
MoviePass has returned! MoviePass is back! You can register for a waitlist on the MoviePass website to receive the beta version. But it’s not the same MoviePass we once knew and loved, which, let’s be real, was always too good to be true. Instead, this time there will be three subscription price tiers — $10, $20, and $30 — each with a different number of “credits” to use each month to see movies. MoviePass does not disclose how many credits each level receives, or how many credit are required to reserve tickets.
Five days will pass before the waiting list closes. The chosen beta users who have been selected will receive an email on Sept. 5. They will then be allowed to choose between the various tiers. Additionally, that iconic MoviePass card will be coming back — though this time, it will be black.
MoviePass was disruptive in the theater business and many theatre franchises created subscription models after its fall.
