Motive Studio’s Single-Player Iron Man Game Being Developed In Unreal Engine 5

Electronic Arts Motive Studio announced in September last year that it is working on the single-player Iron Man as part of an EA/Marvel partnership. Patrick Klaus, the Motive Studio’s General Manager, revealed some new details in today’s studio update. This includes that the Iron Man video game will be developed using Unreal Engine 5 

Motive has released the Dead Space remake this year. Klaus said that now the focus of the studio “has shifted to Iron Man, which gives us the chance to work (and to play!) with another extraordinary property.” He says the team has been working on another exceptional property. Iron Man is a story that is ripe for exploration, both in terms of design and gameplay. He said the team was still early on pre-production.

Motive created the Community Council of Marvel and Iron Man Fans to assist in its Dead Space remake by providing feedback on “pretty everything.” Klaus revealed in this studio update that the team chose Unreal Engine 5 to power the game, to “empower the development team to create something truly special.” 

Fortnite, Immortals of Avalum by EA, Lords of the Fallen and Lords of the Fallen are all recent Unreal Engine 5 titles. 

Klaus mentions in another studio update that Motive team members started to return in person to their studio in Montreal (Canada), before explaining the “period” we are in right now. Klaus says that this is “evolution which leads to elevating.” 

He writes, “Our studio is continuing to set the standard for how we live our values. This includes our commitment to teamwork and learning.” We are grateful for being able to work in an area we love and the trust that EA has given us, as well as our incredible collaborators from Marvel Games, and our fans. We are motivated, focused and ultra-focused.”
