NetherRealm Studios’ latest 2D fighter, Mortal Kombat 1, is right around the corner. The Premium Edition and Kollector Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 will be available this Thursday (September 14), and the Regular Edition next week, on September 19, is also now live. NetherRealm’s official launch video, which features new gameplay and gore for four minutes, was released ahead of its release.
The trailer includes a look at the gameplay of Shang Tsung – who you’ll get when you pre-order Mortal Kombat – as well as a story that revolves around reimagined Mortal Kombat, thanks to Fire God Liu Kang. Reiko is also featured, the second in command of General Shao. See it below.
Shang Tsung, a former sorcerer, still has a moveset that reflects this, including fiery projectiles and massive combos. He can also morph into another fighter. NetherRealm describes Reiko as a “savage fighter with a combat style that matches the fierce personality of his character.” In the trailer we also get a new look at the other roster fighters. For example, the Jean-Claude Van Damme Skin for Johnny Cage, and Nitara who is voiced by Megan Fox.
Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on PC and Switch for the Premium and Collector editions, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. On September 19, the rest of editions will be available.
