Microsoft Will Reportedly Finalize Activision Blizzard Deal On Friday The 13

Microsoft’s journey towards acquiring gaming giant Activision Blizzard has finally reached its end. According to The VergeA source with knowledge of Microsoft’s intentions said that the company was targeting Friday, October 13 as the date for closing. Despite the infamous date, it is not surprising to pick that day. Back in July, the two parties in the deal jointly They agreed to extend their deadline to 18 OctoberIn order to resolve any additional regulatory concerns. The date of the publication is just twelve days off, which means that the transaction would need to be completed soon.

Microsoft will need to face a few other legal issues before it is completely free of legal problems. After restructuring the terms of the merger to grant Ubisoft the rights to stream Activision Blizzard games in the UK, the Competition and Markets Authority granted the deal a preliminary approval, but the regulator still has to make a final assessment sometime before October 18. Microsoft and Activision Blizzard still viewed the deal as an important win.

This news followed the companies’ victory over the Federal Trade Commission back in July. It seems likely at this stage that the agreement will be finalized, ending an saga which began nearly two years ago. Microsoft will probably be happy to move on from this matter after leaked documents revealed Microsoft’s hybrid console, new Xbox model and plans to purchase other companies such as Sega or Bungie.
