Microsoft Flight Simulator Releases Famous Flyer 7: The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries MU-2

Now, pilots in any part of the world can take off with the rugged and reliable MU-2. Microsoft Flight Simulator.

THE INSPIRATION

The MU-2 is a product of a utilitarian, but bold design. In the late 1950s, and into the early 1960s, the turbo engine was introduced as an improved propulsion system for many aviation applications. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries engineers wanted to design a utility aircraft that would maximize the benefits of the turboprop version of the engine. These included high performance, endurance, power and short-field capabilities. Their efforts resulted in one of the aviation world’s most enduringly capable aircraft, the MU-2.

THE AIRCRAFT

The MU-2 has a two-turboprop high-wing aircraft, with a cabin that is pressurized. It made its first flight on 14 September 1963 and began full-scale production the following year. A production period from 1963 to 1985 saw 704 airframes produced.

The MU-2 was born from a new initiative that aimed to design an aircraft capable of reliable, efficient service in a variety of civilian, governmental and miliary applications. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ engineers began to work on the project mid-1950s. They laid the groundwork for an aircraft powered with turboprop engines. At that time, many aircraft manufacturers swapped turboprop engines into piston-powered aircraft, causing efficiency, reliability and safety issues.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries carefully designed the fuselage, wings, and empennage to match the available turboprop engines. This aircraft was able to perform well in both speed and efficiency at various altitudes, as it had a great range and could be operated from all kinds of airstrips, even those that were not improved. It was named the MU-2 because it was the second version of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Utility Series aircraft.

The MU-2 has a wide range of applications. The MU-2 has proven to be a successful business aircraft and VIP platform as well as an air ambulance and search and rescue platform. It is also a reliable general cargo transporter. This aircraft is also used for a number of different military missions, such as ISR (intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance), liaison, and other types. Over the past few years, various iterations of this aircraft have been produced, including versions with longer fuselages, more powerful engines, and improved range.

The MU-2 is 39 feet 5 inches long, 13 feet 8 inches tall, with a main straight wing that spans 39 feet 2 inches. It has wingtip tanks for fuel and spoilers on the overwing to control roll. Double-slotted, full-span flaps are also included. Unique wing designs allow for low takeoff and landing speed and high cruise speeds. The MU-2 is equipped with a retractable tricycle gear landing gear, and a conventional empennage.

Two TPE331-6-251 turboprops mounted on the wing of the MU-2 produce 776 horsepower each. Each engine drives a three-blade Hartzell propeller with reversible constant speed and fully feathering. The MU-2 can fly 1,450 miles and has a service level of 29,590 ft above sea-level. The MU-2 cruises at 300 mph and has a maximum speed of 340 miles per hour. It stalls (reduces flaps) at 115 mph. It can be launched with a ground roll of 2,170 feet and land on a runway of 1,880 feet.

ADVENTURE WAITS

Achieving exceptional performances is the hallmark of this Microsoft Flight SimulatorMU-2, with its wide variety of landing areas, such as dirt strips and grassy fields, offers aviators a wealth of opportunities to explore and discover new places. The MU-2 can be used for flights in and out of major cities, or expeditions on jungle mountain airstrips.

It is important to note that the word “you” means “person”. Microsoft Flight SimulatorMitsubishi Heavy Industries MU-2 has five available liveries: White (executive white), Executive black, Xbox Aviators Club and Aviators Club. The in-sim market has it for just $14.99. It’s time to go skyward!
