Microsoft Flight Simulator Boeing Xbox controller pre-orders go live

Microsoft Flight SimulatorThis game is a big hit due to the compatibility it has with Xbox Series X. Fans were limited to the types of controllers available for use on their consoles up until now. This will all change as Thrustmaster, a controller manufacturer, announced Tuesday that the new TCA Yoke Boeing Edition controller would be available for preorder starting Tuesday, November 9.

It’s expected to arrive with consumers by Dec. 23, meaning Xbox players should be able to fly with it before Christmas.

Boeing’s control yoke, the Boeing yoke, is an exact replica. This yoke is different from other devices which use a flat shaft made of stainless steel that inserts into the dashboard. To control pitch it rocks on a pivot, like an actual airplane. It’s also coded with the requisite Xbox buttons, which should make learning to use it easier on consoles. There’s even a built-in 3.5 mm audio jack.

Thrustmaster went further and created a modular throttle quadrant. Chaining two of them together with the yoke, it’s possible to recreate the controls needed to fly even the largest airliners in Flight Simulator, with independent control of all four engines.

This all comes with a very high price. TCA Pack Boeing Edition includes the yoke and single throttle quadrant as well as a bracket to mount that quadrant. It costs $499.99. Only the Yoke (which includes sliders that can be used as throttles), will set you back $399.99. A second throttle quadrant is available for $149.99. Note that the quadrant alone doesn’t come with a mounting bracket, and it’s not expected to ship by the holidays

More information can be found on the Thrustmaster official website. Expect pre-orders to go quickly.
