Metroid Dread may be just around the bend. With developer MercurySteam’s latest entry in the series comes one of the best versions of the classic platforming/exploring experiences in the long-running franchise. This is why we are sharing this moment with you. You can check out the game on Twitch exclusively to celebrate!
Join Ben Reeves and Alex Stadnik as they ascend through Planet ZDR in the hopes of freeing Samus from this terrifying alien prison. Live streaming will begin at 12:01 CT. Join us for the chat and ask your questions to the game reviewer. The stream today will only show 30 minutes of gameplay.
Our own Mr. Reeves believes that the Samus return hype is true.
Metroid’s haunting ambience and dark tone are the hallmarks of its series. Inspiration from the Alien movie franchise and H.R. Metroid is only a step away from horror films. Metroid Dread is a series that’s getting closer. Samus becomes prey as soon as she sets foot on Planet ZDR. Every deadly creature – and machine – in the world is hungry for Samus’ blood, and she is trapped miles below the planet’s surface, far from her ship. The only way to escape is via the barrel of her cannon. While Samus’ latest adventure delivers the classic exploration-based platforming/action we’ve come to expect, I never shook the all-encompassing anxiety that gives this adventure its name … and I loved every minute of it.
Metroid fans are not waiting long as Dread will be available exclusively for Switch on October 8. You can also check out our video review as well as the full review of the Nintendo Switch OLED.
