Although the Karakuri, and any weapons you use to defeat your prey will help you tremendously in your quest for victory, your greatest resource is probably your knowledge. Understanding your foes – their strengths and weaknesses – may very well mean the difference between success and failure.
Long has this Beast Been the Hunter’s Bane
The Deathstalker or Rasetsu emits an incessant icy chill from every inch of its thin, sickly-sleek form. Where no water graces the land, this Kemono can conjure giant lumps of ice, from which it creates beautiful demarcations of its territory, known to hunters as “icecastles.” It hunts in a pack when necessary, bringing down prey with terrifying speed. It is also a terrifying fighter, which can be seen in close combat against other Kemono. One of Azuma’s strongest Kemono, the Deathstalker, is a formidable hunter. It is believed that only those who have defeated another Deathstalker can determine their level of experience.
The Fearless Adversary
The Deathstalkers are territorial, fierce fighters and can often be seen fighting other Kemono. These fighters are fast-paced and can use a variety of attack methods. To close the distance for close-range fighting, they are often known to leap or charge towards their enemies.
The Cold That Gives Winter a Pause
The Kemono, which was created in the middle of extreme climate chaos, can survive extremely low temperatures. Its blood is transformed into liquid nitrogen, which can not freeze. Its body temperature can change to suit its environment and even its breath can freeze the air. It can freeze a hunter by blowing its cold breath, or form ice pillars simply by hitting its back legs.
While the cold it emits can be deadly, it’s wise to keep its massive claws and fangs in mind when battling the Deathstalker. You can also get icy armor for the beast. All these aspects combined with lightning-fast speed and the wolf’s natural aggressiveness make it a worthy adversary for even the most experienced hunter.
Consider how you can best counter the many deadly strengths of a Deathstalker before you confront it. You may find explosive or fire-based weapons and Karakuri to be the most effective, so venture into this beast’s territory well-prepared if you wish to prevail.
Land of the Wolf
Are you still a fan of this powerful foe, hunter? Hunter, you are doing very well. Seek it in the area near Ōtsuki Castle. The Frozen Fort, an ancient stronghold that has been frozen in interminable winter, is silent except for howling winds. A fortress perched on top of a mountain peak is visible across the snowfields. It was torn in half by a large Kemono. You will be able to find your prey here.
