Marvel’s Avengers Gets Spider-Man, A New Raid, And Other Big Updates On November 30
Spider-Man is finally arriving in Marvel’s Avengers later this month. Specifically, he’s coming to the PlayStation versions of the game – he’s an exclusive character, after all. Non-PlayStation players will also be treated with a major update, which includes a Raid and power cap increases, as well as a simpler method for unlocking cosmetics.
Patch 2.2 will be released on November 30, 2010. Spider-Man is at the Great Power Hero Event. Peter Parker finds a mystery threat to his life and joins forces with the Avengers in an attempt to stop AIM acquiring super-powerful technology. Spidey is not able to work in a team but forms strong bonds with Ms. Marvel, Black Widow and others despite being stubborn about his secret identity. It is up to Peter to decide whether he wants to be a full-time Avenger, or if he prefers crime-fighting alone. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, there are still no screenshots or a trailer showing off Spider-Man’s appearance/moveset, but expect him to be as acrobatic as you’d think.
Spidey has been added to all game versions. A new Raid between four players pits Klaw against Klaw is also available. This Raid was created following events in War for Wakada. Also, the Power Level cap has been increased from 150 up to 175. Players can now upgrade existing gear by recycling equipment of a higher power level. Crystal Dynamics has also introduced Shipments, a way to earn rare cosmetics.
Shipments are a kind of loot container that can be purchased by you spending the in-game currency earned while playing the game. Do you know how to do it? Not have to spend real money, unlike the paid XP Boosts that have since been removed. A Shipment costs 500 units each and pulls from around 250 cosmetic items with a small chance of unlocking a premium outfit you can’t acquire any other way. However, anyone who purchases 100 Shipments will receive a Premium Outfit.
These seem like great additions, unless Spider-Man isn’t included. After being rejected by Square Enix, Marvel’s Avengers requires all of the success it can. The game is available on both current and previous-generation PlayStation, Xbox and PC consoles.
