Marvel Snap’s Leader card nerfed, with more changes coming later
The Leader is one of Marvel Snap’s most powerful cards, is coming in for a nerf, the digital card game’s boss said WednesdayFollow us on Twitter. However, for some players the changes are not enough.
A Leader, an Hulk foe going back over 60 years now, will see his power drop to just 3 instead of 4. In MarvelSnapThe total number of cards in a particular location is what determines its control. Two of the three winning locations are also determined at the conclusion of the game.
But his power isn’t what’s really bothering folks. Leader’s unique ability copies Everywhere card one’s opponent has played, for that turn, to their side. As Leader’s cost is 6, he typically can’t be used until the end of the game, which means players who have Leader are inevitably deploying him against other late-stage, high-cost, high-power cards. When used against multiple cards, Leader can swing the game’s outcome dramatically. Others would argue that he is unfair. He is strong enough to make others feel uncomfortable to simply retreat.
“Leader’s effect is proving to be very frustrating to many players, and polarizing in its ability to lock down games and discourage playing some other 6-Cost cards,” Ben Brode, the chief development officer for Marvel Snap Maker Second Dinner.
That doesn’t address Leader’s overwhelming special ability, but then, Brode says Second Dinner is “exploring further changes to the card in the future.” Brode immediately clarified that means changes are definitely on the wayLeader
Players seem to be divided about Leader’s effect as currently played, though most feel like he has too much potential to completely warp or seal up a game.
No matter if Leader has 3,4,1 or 13 power; the pattern stays the same: If you haven’t won 2 Locations by T5 it’s most of the time correct to retreat, just because Leader exists.

That said…
I find 6 cost cards confusing. The leader doesn’t prohibit 6-cost cards. Because of the possibility that those plays will be duplicated, he does not allow any play that relies on mere numbers. A card that he uses to prevent 6 turn plays which don’t have high synergy and can’t overwhelm his area.

The card works just fine. Its effect has almost been as damaging as the wins it brought. You can’t win automatically. It’s not an automatic win.

Still another player suggested that Leader’s copy ability apply only to cards in his locationInstead of all the cards dealt by an opponent, use.
These changes will take effect Marvel Snap’s next patch; that cadence has been delayed however. Leader’s nerf came to light when the patch notes made it out through Marvel Snap’s Korean version and community, prompting Brode’s reply.
