Marvel Snap is a new card game from ex-Hearthstone devs

Marvel Publishing, Nuverse and Second Dinner jointly announced on Thursday that they have a new Windows-based mobile and Windows card game. Marvel Snap. Four years in the making, this game was designed after rethinking certain elements found in standard games like Hearthstone.

One, developers say the game is fast. They estimate that every battle will last around three minutes. Two, players will have the ability to simultaneously play instead of having to wait on each other. The game also includes a number of new concepts, such as a “snap” mechanic that lets players double down if they are feeling confident in a victory.

Former founder HearthstoneBen Brode, former game director Hearthstone executive producer Hamilton Chu, development studio Second Dinner has a history with successful mobile titles — and in Chu’s case, a history that includes working as a producer on Bungie’s early Halo games.

Second Dinner was first announced in 2019 by the studio, which revealed plans to create a Marvel-themed game. It also disclosed that it had received $30 million from NetEase. At that time the company had five members and plans to increase to 15 over the years. It currently has 48 employees.
