Marvel SDCC panel reveals X-Men ’97 release window, season 2

Fans of the X-Men finally got some details X-Men ’97The Disney Plus reboot of upcoming Disney Plus shows X-Men: The Animated SeriesAt a panel by Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con Friday, This panel was focused on Marvel Animation projects like Marvel ZombiesAnd What if …?Also, it was revealed that X-Men ’97 Already, a second season has been approved by the network before it airs in autumn 2023.

X-Men ’97Will pick up from the beginning animated X-MenThe episode was cancelled in 1997, but it continued as before. The gripping final episode “Graduation Day” left the mutant heroes in an unusual spot. Henry Peter Gyrich attacked Professor Charles Xavier on live TV in that episode. Xavier sustained psychic injuries from the attack, and unable to help him, the X-Men turned to Magneto, whose longstanding mistrust of humans and their bigotry now seemed far more reasonable in light of Xavier’s plight. Xavier’s on-again-off-again alien girlfriend Lilandra (it’s a long story — watch the show!) Magneto took Xavier to her planet, where she received psychic healing only her people could offer. The X-Men were left under Magneto’s leadership.

Although “Graduation Day” is not quite a cliffhanger, it certainly invited questions as to what these characters might do next, with Xavier off-planet and Magneto at the helm. Again, that’s precisely where the new television show will pick things up, with Magneto serving as the unlikely new leader of the team.

As consultants, Eric and Julia Lewald (original showrunners) and Larry Houston (original series director) are both onboard. X-Men ’97. Beau DeMayo has been on The WitcherAnd Moon KnightAs executive producer, and as writer, he is a member of the team. Nearly all the voice actors from the first series will be back, along with some newcomers such as Holly Chou and Jennifer Hale, whose roles are yet to be determined.
