Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass DLC adds 8 courses on March 18

Nintendo had revealed earlier in the year that Mario Kart 8 DeluxeBy the end 2023, Switch players will have 48 courses remastered. This new DLC, called the Booster Pass, will add some fan-favorite Mario Kart map maps to the eShop. The first wave of this DLC hits the eShop Friday, March 18. According to Eurogamer players can access the DLC in North America at 7 PM EDT/4 PM PDT Thursday March 17.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass will consist of six waves of eight courses each. Nintendo has yet to announce release dates for five of the next waves.

Wave 1 features two new cups, the Lucky Cat Cup and Golden Dash Cup. Every cup includes four maps that span from Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo 3DS, Mario Kart Super CircuitGame Boy Advance Mario Kart DSAnd Mario Kart TourOn mobile.

You can purchase the Nintendo eShop Booster Course Pass for $24.99 at $24.99. This pass is also included in the Nintendo Switch Online + Extension Pack which includes unlimited access to Animal Crossing New Horizon’s Happy Home Paradiseexpansion, as well as Nintendo 64 or Genesis games. Single users can subscribe for $49.99 per year and opt in to a family plan at $79.99 per year.

Nintendo’s support FAQ for the Booster Course Pass reveals that only a single player in the friend group needs to own or have access to the new courses for others to play them. So when playing locally or online with friends, players won’t need to pick and choose cups based on who owns what. On March 22, Wave 1 courses also will appear in random selections for Online Global and Regional Races for All Players.
