Lost Ark Launch Delayed Slightly, Limits Character Creation On Some Servers

As it made its debut in western countries, Lost Ark is making a lot of noise this week. Although the MMORPG is free-to-play, the first few days of access have only been available for those who purchased a Founder’s Pack. The price-gating has had a temporary effect on Lost Ark’s performance. It saw over 500,000 players concurrently in just two days. Due to the popularity of this title, there have been some changes to the places where players can create characters as well as the opening of new servers in order to cater to the growing audience that is starting to play this week.

To limit new players creating characters on server with large populations and long queue times, we have targeted servers that are high in population. Players who have already created characters for the worlds affected will be allowed to add more characters. These are the current limits that servers see:

NA West – Mari
NA West –Valtan
NA East – Azena
NA East – Una
NA East – Regulus
NA East – Avesta
EU Central – Kadan
EU Central – Trixion
EU Central – Thirain
EU Central – Zinnervale
EU Central – Asta

You will be restricted from joining these servers if your friends are already on the server. However, there are more servers opening to accommodate the increasing number of players. The forum post that announced the limits also named EU Central Beatrice and NA East Elzowin as two fresh places to start playing Lost Ark. A few more servers were also spun up, but they are not being named.

Lost Ark tweeted this morning that F2P’s launch was delayed by “deployment difficulties”. The game was down due to maintenance at the time this article was published. This is ahead of its scheduled full release. This issue will be resolved within hours. Your patience is appreciated and we’ll update you soon,” assures the Lost Ark team. We hope that the waiting period lasts only a few more hours, and does not extend into the weekend or night.

Hoping that the delays are a speed bump for a smooth launch, we have our fingers crossed. You can see our Lost Ark pre-release impressions here. It is a lot of fun, and it’s not overhyped. You can hear more on this week’s Game Informer Show. You can also watch the entire game streaming live on Twitch (in case of technical difficulties or delays). You can come hang out with us and discover the MMO.
