Live-action System Shock series is in development

Binge, a games-centric streaming entertainment platform has now added live action System ShockDeadline says series are now on its docket.

Nightdive Studios, a retro games publisher, currently holds the rights. System ShockNightdive Executives Stephen Kick and Larry Kuperman will executive produce the live-action production. Binge’s Chief Content Officer, Allan Ungar, will be producer on the project.

“I’ve always believed that a live action adaptation of System Shock would be the perfect medium to retell the harrowing story of Citadel station and its rogue AI that subjects the crew to unimaginable horror,” Kick told Deadline. “We’re very excited to see the talented team at Binge bring System Shock to life in horrifyingly real and new ways.”

Original release: 1994 System Shock The story follows the adventures of a Citadel security guard who is forced to fight an evil artificial intelligence called SHODAN. The System Shock adaptation will be one of several properties in Binge’s games-leaning original content slate — this, so far, includes a TV adaptation of Ubisoft’s The driver Which is an early aughts-based, lower-key rival to Grand Theft AutoThis is the official site.
