Live A Live Jumps To PlayStation And Steam Next Month

Live A Live was a favorite of ours last year when it debuted on Switch. The celebrated remake will be making its way to PlayStation 3 and Steam this April 27.

Additionally, there’s a free demo on PlayStation available today that lets you play three of the game’s eight stories. Live A Live was originally released in 1994 for the Super Famicom in Japan, but it hadn’t been localized for the west for decades. The game was directed by TakashiTokita (one of the most prominent creative minds behind Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger), and consists eight short stories. Each story stars its own protagonist, and each has distinct gameplay mechanics. Although the battle system relies on turn-based strategies, the game sometimes flips it upside down in innovative ways.

Last year, Square Enix resurrected the title by giving it an Octopath Traveler-style HD-2D facelift, a rearranged soundtrack, and full voice-acting. Pre-orders on PlayStation or Steam will get you a 20% discount. To learn more, you can read our review of Live A Live here.
