It’s Like a Gaiden of Dragons: The Man who Erased his Name, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s latest installment in their flagship Like a Dragon series, is now available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and is available day one with Game Pass. Here you’ll assume the role of Agent Joryu, the alias of legendary ex-yakuza Kazuma Kiryu, who faked his own death but is now being driven out of hiding.

Two decades ago, Club Sega was a chain of gaming arcades in Japan that ran from the late ‘90s to late ‘00s and live on in Dragon Gaiden. Sega of America: How do you select the games for each iteration of Club Sega in America?

SakamotoIn order to create the best possible experience for our fans, we look at a list of games we could potentially port. We prioritize popular Sega titles that are sure to delight and surprise them, while also celebrating Sega’s rich heritage.

Sega of America: Which infrastructure is used for porting the games to Club Sega

SakamotoOur decision was made by looking at a variety of genres in the Model 3 game library. Club Sega is a hive of activity around the playable games. Dragon GaidenFans from abroad are especially welcome. It’s great to hear that people remember them, and we also hope that new generations enjoy playing these for the first time!

Sega of America – In a certain sense, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has preserved history by cataloging the classic Sega Games. It must be a great feeling to have the Like a Dragon franchise continue Club Sega’s legacy.

SakamotoIn my early years, I used to spend a great deal of time in video arcades. This experience inspired me to create games. It is also a pleasure to have the opportunity to enjoy many of the games I enjoyed when I was young. We hope to make other players feel this way.

Sega of America, how accurate are Club Sega’s games to those on the original system?

SakamotoClub Sega in the Like a Dragon series is meant to be a faithful reflection of arcade games from years past. Although the games were largely ported, some adjustments had to be made such as UI.

Sega of America Are there any arcade games that haven’t yet made it into the Like a Dragon series Club Sega that you’d like to include in the future?

SakamotoI’d like to see games for the NAOMI System, the successor of the Model 3 system and the Dreamcast-based system in the future. I wonder if anyone else would like to see that as well…

Sega of America Last question. Who’s your main in Fighting Vipers 2What tips would you give to new players?

SakamotoSanman is my go-to warrior. I recommend getting a grasp of ‘Guard and Attack’ which is a technique used to counterattack immediately after blocking. It is executed by inputting Back plus Punch or Kick to counter an opponent’s high and medium attacks, or Down and Back plus Punch or Kick to counter a low attack.
