Learn More about Junktopia, Coming to Xbox in The Jackbox Party Pack 9
JunktopiaThis fall, Jackbox Party Pack 9, one person’s trash is another person’s more expensive trash! We’re excited to share the game’s introduction today with Xbox fans looking for their next favorite party game.
The beginning JunktopiaUnlucky players can be turned by an evil wizard into frogs. He may have put you in a bit of a pickle but he’s also rooting for you! Your help is needed for this wizard. Although he loves strange old things, he doesn’t like their dull backstories. That’s why he needs you to make up some funny facts about them.
They must find a unique and intriguing item to sell, and give it a funny backstory. You can transform yourself back to your human form if you make the biggest profit.
Hinter the Gameplay
When making JunktopiaThe team wanted to allow players creative freedom, but not make it feel overwhelming. Whether you’re a player who prefers guidance when writing silly stories or you prefer total freedom, this game is designed with you in mind.
These items are images of mostly real-life objects and are selected by the team. The game allows you to sell your item by sharing its history and other fun facts. This game will help you to get started by prompts that you fill in.
- For the simple reason that your face is not there, ______ is the answer.
- There’s an engraving on the back that says ‘______’.
- It was initially designed for ______.
There’s also an option to write your own fact from scratch if you’re so inspired.
According to Editorial Lead Liz Anderson, items that made it to the game are familiar, like one would actually find at an antiques auction, but slightly “off”- evocative, weird, or wild enough to push the player to justify why that thing is the way it is.
Like other Jackbox titles Patently stupidThe option exists for you to offer your item as a bid or for the game itself to give you the details. If your item is deemed to net the most profit, POOF, you’re human again. But, considering how adorable these frogs look, is it really a loss?

Spencer Ham, Game Director of the game, had an idea two years back. An avid antiquer, he was inspired to create a Jackbox game centered around the truly bizarre items he’d see at various antique malls throughout the midwest.
Junktopia’s World
JunktopiaExists in a universe of magic moments and spells which fail. The game is set in a ramshackle shop of curiosities that’s held together by powerful magic and duct tape. There is a lot of duct tape.
Owen Watson was the lead artist in creating an environment that allows the wizard to be your friend and foe. Zelda: Zelda is the Wand of GamelonMerlin. The Sword and the Stone, Ren & StimpyFuzzy Lumpkins, and more Powerpuff GirlsFor inspiration. Steff Egan, an artist, created his extra-cute sidekick the frog and avatars of the players to balance the wizard’s roguishness.
Players won’t be able to stop grooving along to the music in the game by Elise Wattman. The music was inspired by John Hartford, Jaco Pastorius, First Aid Kit, Flatt & Scruggs, and Bela Fleck. What results is what we’re calling “enchanted bluegrass”! We’re excited to bring JunktopiaXbox One players in the fall! Additional titles have been announced Jackbox Party Pack 9Inclusion Zimmererang, FibbAge 4.And Sensory.
