Leaked Microsoft Docs Indicate Xbox Is Planning Next-Gen Hybrid Console For 2028
Microsoft and Xbox both appeared before a court in the first half of this year regarding its $69 Billion acquisition by Activision Blizzard. The court documents have revealed previously unknown details, including that Xbox’s Phil Spencer was considering acquiring Nintendo, Warner Bros. Games and even Warner Bros. Games themselves. A new Xbox Series S/X refresh is planned for 2020, along with a refreshed Xbox Series S/X controller. Also, there are plans to release remastered versions of Fallout 3 as well The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. According to, another leaked document reveals the plans of Microsoft for its next-gen hybrid system in 2028. The Verge.
The document does not reveal what the console will be, or what its name might be, nor what it may look like in the future. The document does provide some details on its architecture, and the way Xbox perceives this hybrid platform as one that utilizes cloud technology.
In the “Our Vision” section of the document, Microsoft writes, “Develop a next generation hybrid game platform capable of leveraging the combined power of the client and cloud to deliver deeper immersion and entirely new classes of game experiences. Microsoft will be able to deliver new levels of performance that go beyond client hardware capabilities.
