League of Legends’ next champion revealed: Nilah, the Joy Unbound
The next League of LegendsChampion is a bot-lane skirmisher who carries a water whip as well as an ancient demon. Nilah, also known as the Joy Unbound, a warrior monk has been pledged to a legendary order, which has sealed a demon that brings joy into a spiritual lake. This prison permits the ascetics to channel the demon. However, Nilah is unable to experience joy.
Nilah investigates why Viego was locked up in Camavor by the Sentinels of Light at the end of the event. She finds out about an even greater threat — perhaps Bel’Veth, the Void Empress? — and prepares to face them so that she can defeat the world’s villains and live forever in song and myth.
Nilah is melee champion but thrives in bot lane due to her kit. This gives her lots synergy with other enchanter supports such as Janna and Karma.
Joy Unending – Passive is the new joy
Nilah and her nearest allies gain 50% experience each time she hits a minion.
Nilah receives additional power from shields, heals, and other benefits that allies champions grant her. Nilah gets additional power from allied champions who cast abilities that shield or heal Nilah.
Q – Formal Blade
Passive: For part of damage done, attacks and ability damage to champions disregard some armor. This effect is crit-related and can also overheal. Nilah receives a shield.
Active:Nilah hits in a straight line that damages all enemies. Hitting an enemy increases Nilah’s attack range and attack speed for a few seconds. Additional damage can be done by her basic attacks, which splash into a cone.
W – Jubilant Veil
Nilah is temporarily engulfed in mist. This causes her to gain speed and reduce damage from magic attacks. It also allows her to dodge basic attacks. The mist covers all allied champions, giving them half of the bonuses.
E – Slipstream
Nilah sprints past a target unit and damages all her enemies. Nilah may carry 2 Slipstream Charges at a time.
Slipstream allows Nilah to cast Formless Blade Q (Q), which causes a wave to be pulled in her direction, dealing damage and activating her powerful attacks.
R – Apotheosis
Nilah turns her weapon around in an area surrounding her. This causes damage to be dealt and draws enemies towards the center. For a fraction of the damage done, Nilah receives healing and converts excess healing to a shield. It is divided with other allies and shares the healing and shielding levels with critical strike chance.
Some players may be tempted by Nilah’s ability to play in another lane, or even the jungle. However, Nilah’s kit is great for playing alongside other champions, particularly if they have shields and heals. Nilah is also fairly mobile thanks to Slipstream; she doesn’t need to hang back and wait for an opportunity to go all-in. Instead she moves around in a fight while sustaining her self and doing some damage with the Formless Blade.
Nilah is also part of Star Guardian alternate universe. This alternate universe features a variety of heroes inspired by magic girls. On July 14, the next Star Guardian event will begin, Return to Valoran City.
