Kirby: Forgotten Land’s Mouthful Mode has fans very excited

Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation featured many trailers of upcoming titles, but few have generated as much hype as the trailer for Kirby and The Forgotten Land. This 3D platformer is adorable. Kirby explores a post-apocalyptic world to find his Waddle Dee friends. You can take on new shapes by using Mouthful Mode, which the pink puffball uses to achieve this noble goal.

The Direct allowed us to view how Mouthful Mode worked in-game. Kirby eats a car at one point. This allows him to navigate the highways and drive around in it. Kirby has the ability to be a traffic cone, water balloon giant, lightbulb and vending machine, which shoots out its contents at foes. The new Kirbies are already attracting a lot of attention from fans, who have created fanart celebrating Mouthful Mode.

Kirby and The Forgotten Land’s antagonists are a bunch of menacing monsters known as the Beast Pack, and they’re locking up all the Waddle Dees. Kirby’s Mouthful Mode will be essential for stopping that menace and saving his friends, but he’ll also have access to more standard inhaled power-ups and abilities from past platformers. There’s also co-op mode, with a second player showing up as the badass Bandana Waddle Dee. There’s going to be a lot to explore in the titular forgotten land, but for the moment, fans seem fixated on the possibilities and wonder of Mouthful Mode.

Kirby and The Forgotten LandNintendo Switch will release the game on March 25,
