Keith David To Take Over The Role Of Zavala In Destiny 2

Lance Reddick, an actor who played in Horizon Zero Dawn and Destiny 2 (among other roles), passed away suddenly earlier this year. In Destiny 2, Reddick played Commander Zavala – an important recurring character in Destiny lore. Reddick is also a fanatic of Destiny who engages with the community frequently. Recasting the role would have been a challenge.

Bungie has announced today that the legendary actor Keith David will be taking on this role. David has a long history in film and TV, appearing in films like The ThingWatch TV Shows like Community (pictured below).

He also voices a variety of characters for animated films and games. He played Dr. Facilier in Princess and the FrogIn Saint’s Row IV, he played Keith David. The Arbiter is perhaps his best-known role in video games. David has worked with Bungie before.

David wrote in a post to Bungie’s website announcing that the cast had been announced, “It is an honor for me to continue Lance Reddick’s great work as Zavala. Lance has captured this character’s integrity in a wonderful way. I intend to continue this work.”
