June Updates for the Xbox App on PC: More Collections, Performance Indicator, and More

You are welcome, friends from the PC world. I’m thrilled to share some progress from our team working on the Xbox App on PC! We would like to thank everyone who sent feedback through the Feedback Hub, tweeted their suggestions, commented on the subreddit r/XboxInsiders, or chatted to our ambassadors.

We’ve continued to make improvements to the backend of the app so it will run smoother and with more reliability and we’ve addressed top reported issues and will continue to do so with app updates. We have made the app easier to use for navigation, searching, and installing games. We’re not done though; so let’s get into it!

Indice of Game Performance

I have been in that spot where you download a game, you have your heart set on playing it, only to find that your PC doesn’t actually meet the requirements to play the game super well. It’s a shame that you didn’t know this before you bought the game. It’s good to know that the new feature is being developed by the team and allows you to see how the game runs on your computer before downloading it. To view more information, click on the game details.

Now the app compares the game’s performance on PCs with similar specs to yours, to show a prediction of how well we expect the game to run. If your PC isn’t up to the task of running a graphically demanding game, you’ll be able to view the game’s system requirements to get more details on what you need to run the game. We are still learning about how games perform on different PCs so you might not get a performance report for all of them (especially newer ones) until enough data is available to make a recommendation. Keep checking back!

Recently Updated: It’s easier to find your next game

Recent improvements to the navigation of our app made it simpler to locate more games. You can now see all your navigation on the sidebar. Your game installation is easily tracked using the new queue. It appears in the bottom left hand corner with a notification when it finishes installing.

You can find all the games you care about in “Search” with improved accuracy, and it now includes games from EA Play and Ubisoft Connect in search results. “Home” is where we’ve added more collections for you to explore. Team up with friends near or far with the new “Games to play together” collection. Jump, climb, and battle as the action progresses across your screen with the “Side scrollers” collection. Or test your brain with casual adventures and epic tales games found in the “Point and click” collection. Whatever mood you’re in, you’ll be sure to find a game to play!

Shape the Future of PC

Our team would like to thank you for your continued feedback. We love hearing from you, so please keep dropping your comments in the Feedback Hub, to us on Twitter, or the Xbox Insiders Reddit — we are listening, and will be back next time with more updates!
