Improved Experiences for the Xbox App on PC
PC gaming has had an amazing year in 2022. It has been a great pleasure to work with partners who bring amazing games to PC Game Pass. A Plague Tale: Requiem (from day one!), Persona 5 RoyalThe full game is now available for download Grounded. All these games and hundreds more are in the Xbox app on PC, and I’m excited to share our final update for the Xbox app on PC as the year comes to a close.
Before we get to what’s new, I want to thank everyone in our community for your continued feedback and discussions to make the PC gaming experience even better. We’ll be back with more updates and more games in 2023, but for now let’s recap what updates you can see right now!
Riot Games now available with the Game Pass
Riot Games members now enjoy exclusive benefits, as we mentioned earlier. On the Xbox App on PC, you can access Valorant League of Legends Teamfight Tactics Legends of Runeterra, Valorant, League of Legends and League of Legends. You can choose which game to download, and then follow the instructions to link your Riot and Game Pass accounts. We’re excited members can start playing Riot games with your Game Pass benefits on PC!
A faster and more responsive app
The Xbox app’s performance and reliability has been improved over the past year. The app launches 40% faster with recent updates. The Game Pass tab has been improved to load up to 30% quicker and responds better to your requests as you play games.
Games Installation and Management
To meet PC gamers’ expectations, we added a number of new features to improve the process of installing PC Game Pass. These features include the ability to access local files and move games to different drives.
The PC Bootstrapper was launched in June. It allows developers to easily integrate features like Xbox Services and game saves. It helps players have the best experience possible.
We’re also committed to improving the reliability of game downloads and installs with every update. With the September update, we saw player reports of games that didn’t download or didn’t install successfully reduced by nearly half, and we continue to see success rates trending up month after month for players downloading, installing, and launching games. We’ve also added notifications when Gaming Services updates are required so that the app will always be fresh for the best game play.
It’s easier to find great games
We’ve continued to update the app to make it easier to discover the games you’ll love. The game performance fit indicator allows you to see the speed at which a given game will run before downloading it. HowLongToBeat partners with us so you can get estimates on how long it will take for you complete most PC Game Pass games.
We’ve also made updates to make it easier to find your next game. You can view trailers, screenshots and descriptions of most games at once on the Game Details pages. Also, you will find news and updates from the developers. The Xbox app for PC has been redesigned to be easier to use. This includes more games to explore and games at the top of each tab. We also improved the accuracy and speed of our search. Navigation improvements were also implemented to help you find new games. Navigation is all on the sidebar. The queue allows you to track installed games so that you are ready to play.
