Immortality’s first trailer shows off an ‘interactive movie trilogy’
Sam Barlow is the creator of Her StoryAnd Told liesThe newest game, and the greatest mystery of all time are back by popular demand. InmortalityMarissa Marcel is an actor who has made three films that have not been released. She then disappears. The game’s first trailer, released on Wednesday, gives us our first look at each of the movies and lets us know exactly how players will be able to piece together the clues.
Inmortality’s trailer bills the game as an interactive movie trilogy. It appears that Marissa’s fate will be solved by players using match-cuts in the movies. Players can click on specific areas of each scene they’re shown, and will be taken to a new scene where the character or object they clicked will be in a similar pose or position. The trailer suggests that it is possible to play this game in two different ways. InmortalityFeatures dozens of scenes taken from all three films, or possibly the entire trilogy.
Thus far, all Barlow’s games have been about unravelling mysteries using unique, often fairly simple gameplay mechanics. Her StoryLets players search keywords for interrogation footage, and allow them to search it. Told liesAllows players to make use of multiple features on a computer desktop for their research.
InmortalityIt does not yet have a release date but it will appear sometime this summer for Xbox Series X, Xbox Game Pass and Windows.
