How to unlock Link in The Super Mario Bros. Movie: a totally real hack

Super Mario Bros. Movie premiered on Wednesday, and its ensemble cast is a 40-year parade of Nintendo characters, from Donkey Kong to Mario and Luigi’s extended family. It’s a roster worthy of something like Super Smash Bros. UltimateThe movie also gives the actor a tip.

Now, take this with a kernel of popcorn, but I’ve heard there’s ActuallyUnlockable Legend of Zelda mode available for this movie. Follow the steps below to see the secret reel. All of Mario’s characters will be swapped out for Zelda characters if you watch it twice. Jonathan Potts is replacing Charles Martinet.

Pinky swear. You are the best. Simply read this out of the back of Scholastic’s Dynamite Magazine in primary school library Anyway, here’s the secret code to unlock Link and co. in Super Mario Bros. Movie:

1. You can buy a ticket for a matinee. You must go to a matinee.
2. You will be seated in the middle of the first row.
3. It is very important to turn off your phone.
4. Do not stand, but sit down.
5. The seat to your left is the best.
6. You will be seated in the immediate seat to your right.
7. Steps 5 through 6 can be repeated.
8. Then press B, A and START. If all is well, you will see a picture of Mr. T on the movie screen.
9. For the remainder of the film, do not speak. You can also speak in a low tone to your companions or theater staffers if necessary. It is also very important!

Note that you can’t do some of this at home, so this cheat code will only work in the theater. However, you will still be able to silence your phone while you stream the movie. And it’ll be better that way.)
