It’s another way to verify you’re really you.
While it is important to enable this extra layer of protection for every account you have, there are some exceptions. FortniteRewards you with in-game items. You can get rewards for doing it. You’ll have three options:
- Third-party app authentication. For this, you can use a dedicated application like Authy. You could also try the Google Apps for Apple and Android (which are paid services), LastPass apps (which charge a fee), or Microsoft Authenticator.
- SMS authentication. It will send you a unique code that you need to input when you sign in.
- Email authentication. Similar, the email ends with an entry code.
SMS and email are pretty straightforward — when you activate the option, it will send a code and you enter it. That turns on the 2FA and you’ll just repeat that process whenever you sign in.
The authenticator applications are different. To add Epic Games, you will need to enter either a manual code (which is very long) or a scan of a QR. After that, when you log in, you’ll just have to open the app to grab the code. These apps generate new codes every minute or so, so you’ll have to have it open while you’re logging in.
You’ll only need to use these 2FA codes when you log in to your Fortnite (Epic Games) account from a new device or haven’t logged in within 30 days.
