As far as we can tell, there’s no consequence for being in a romantic relationship with multiple allies at once.

Minthara is a bit of a special case, one that requires you to plan ahead and do some very bad things to win her heart — and then she leaves anyway.

Shadowheart Romance requirements

Early access is a way to start a new relationship. ShadowheartThe full version still supports early. Head to the Blighted Village, across the bridge that’s west of Emerald Grove, and deal with the goblins there. Ideally, you’ll do it peacefully to avoid a drawn-out battle.

A busted statue is hidden behind the windmill where the poor gnome has been tied. Speak with Shadowheart about it, and then the next time you’re at camp during the night, you can initiate the first romance conversation.

When speaking with her you can choose from the following choices

• Get to know eachother better.
• What else can you tell me about yourself? [spoiler]You can also find tadpoles.
• You’ll have to point out Night Orchids to me if we ever pass some.

After selecting the bedroll, you’ll need to make these choices:

• Tieflings?
• Are you worried Shar won’t approve?
• I’d be glad to. If she wants to share the bottle, I’d be happy.
• I’ll find you after everyone’s turned in for the night.

Earning approval in Shadowheart

If you want to maintain Shadowheart’s approval, here’s what you should aim to do in general:

• Kindness to the children and those who are downtrodden is important.
• Stop the Tieflings killing Sazza by showing mercy wherever you can.
• Find non-violent methods to handle animals, particularly in the Owlbear Cave.
• Outside Blighted Village, crush any Ilithid tadpoles you find.
• Novice Crusher will make you kiss your toes.

Astarion love requirements

Astarion’s romance follows the usual pattern of raising approval and making the right choices in conversations, though from our experience, he doesn’t have a specific set of dialogue options like Shadowheart does, at least until you rescue Halsin and save the refugees (assuming you do). Just be flirtatious and let Astarion know that you are interested in him without being rude.

Select these options to help you after you have rescued the refugees.

• Really? Really?
• The goblins certainly would have been more wild.
• And what’s your idea of ‘a little fun’?
• All right, let’s do it. I’ll see you later.

You should invite him to sleep by saying:

• You don’t have me yet
• What do you desire?
• Nod

Earning approval using Astarion

Astarion is your typical noble, a man who’s very interested in himself and doesn’t mind seeing other people suffer for his amusement. In general, it is recommended that you:

• Lies and deception are not acceptable.
• Intimidate people.
• Do not treat animals cruelly. Kick the squirrels in Emerald Grove.
• You can be cruel by making fun of other characters or playing with their emotions.

Astarion will not like someone who is always nice.

Lae’zel romance requirements

Lae’zel is a bit like Astarion in the sense that she despises kindness, though she’s less capricious in her appreciation of brutality. True to her no-nonsense nature, there’s only one required conversation before starting a romance with her, and it’s a short one during the celebration after rescuing the refugees.

She’ll approach you and ask whether she can sniff you (yes, this is true). Say:

• Do you… ask for sex?
• Yes. Yes, I’ll share my bed tonight with you.

And that’s it.

How to earn approval with Lae’zel

Getting Lae’Zel to like you basically means acting like her. You should:

• Choose Violence
• Tell people you don’t have the time or willingness to help them.
• Stand with the people who are executing harsh justice. let the Tieflings kill Sazza and don’t save the thief child in Emerald Grove).
• She should speak to the Githyanki.

Gale Romance requirements

Make Your Own GaleIt takes more work to fall in love. He is very similar to Shadowheart in that he values kindness and empathy. However, he’s also reluctant to start a relationship for spoilery reasons and needs some extra encouragement to take that step.

We’re not sure whether you have to give him magical items to consume as part of a romance requirement, but it’s certainly worth handing them over to keep him happy with you.

Gale will invite you to a celebration of refugee relief on the night. Say:

• You’re a good teacher.
• Keep the moment in your mind. It’s a good night for intimacy.
• Picture kissing him.

Next time you discuss your lesson in magic with him, choose one of these options:

• Never before did I think it would be so easy to perform magic.
• How did you feel when I described the Weave connection?

Next time you camp out, you’ll see that he is having problems near the campfire. Speak with him and offer comfort and sympathy, and don’t rebuff him when he says he wants to get closer with you. When you interact next with your bedroll, you should have the option to select Gale.

Wyll romance requirement

What Wyll can do to gain your approval

Wyll, a traditional folk hero from his childhood, is an action-oriented character who loves valor. He also has a dash of kindness and determination. Most of the time, Wyll will approve of actions taken by Shadowheart and Gale, but there are certain instances in which you may need to take specific steps to satisfy him.

• The goblins in Blighted Village are not scared off by the windmill. Instead, they will fight you.
• Don’t let the devil remove your tadpole
• Help Zevlor Emerald Grove
• Karlach aids in the hunt for the Devil

Minthara Romance requirements

Minthara is a malicious drow who wants to destroy the druids and bring pain and suffering to the world — not your usual romance candidate, in other words. The usual ritual of courtship is not to get her on your good side.

Minthara isn’t a party member, so there’s no specific actions you should take while adventuring to gain her approval in general. You will have to sell the Druids out.

Minthara can be found in the Shattered Sanctum of the Goblin Camp. Minthara wants to know more about Emerald Grove. After the goblins have destroyed the settlement in Emerald Grove, Minthara needs information on the attack. Say:

• It’s been a privilege to fight alongside you.
• Change is inevitable.
• Open your mind.

Speak with her again during the camp party and let her know that you are hers. Choose to sleep with Minthara by interacting with the bedroll.
