No matter how hard you try, you’re bound to get hurt in God of War Ragnarök. While we don’t have a solution to the emotional damage caused by the story, Steinbjorn ArmorThis set is able to help reduce your physical pain. Each of the three gear pieces is focused on providing an insane amount defense. This makes them very neat. But the primary skill, which makes it so Kratos’ attacks recover health temporarily after he’s severely injured, sets a promising prospect.

Get your hands on some God of War Ragnarök’s best armor sets is fairly straightforward. For the Steinbjorn armour, you must defeat four trolls in order to collect. Don’t fret, though, as this guide explains the prep you’re going to need before commencing the hunt for each piece, as well as their locations and how to make the most out of the set.

You will need to do some preparation before getting the Steinbjorn armour.

Before diving into each one of the locations, here’s a quick list of everything you’re going to need to start this search. Beware that we’ll be mentioning some Light story spoilers, so if you don’t want to ruin any surprises for yourself, hold on until you’ve completed the “Forging Destiny” mission of the main story.

At a glance, you’ll need the following before you can get the Steinbjörn armor in God of War Ragnarök:

• Have full access to freely roam Midgard’s Lake of Nine area;
• Keep the Draupnir Spire in your hand.
• Have the “key” that Freya gives you in the main story to unlock the Forbidden Sands area of Alfheim;
• Have completed the “Song of the Sands” favor in the Forbidden Sands.

The order is irrelevant, but it’s worth knowing what’s needed in advance so you don’t waste any time.

Where to find the Mystical HeirloomInscribing a relic God of War Ragnarök

The Mystical Heirloom relic in God of War Ragnarök kicks off the mission to gather the Steinbjörn armor pieces. You can find the relic in the Lake of Nine, southwest of Tyr’s Temple. If you look at the map for reference, it’s close to the rock-shaped structures on the bottom.

As you come closer, you’ll notice a crack in the ice wall. You can throw a spear at the wall and explode it to create a pathway. After you have defeated all the enemies, take the relic to the ground. Now you can begin the journey to gather the armor pieces.

God of War Ragnarök Troll Statue Locations – How to Gather Slumber Stones

Three locations are available for troll statues in God of War RagnarökYou can also visit them in any order. If you played 2018’s God of WarThe fights should be familiar. Equip the relic and, once you’re on the right spot, activate it (L1 + Circle by default) to awaken the troll statue.

Location of the Derelict Outpost: Troll Statue

The Derelict Outpost is an area in the southwest corner of the city that houses a statue of trolls. Midgard. Continue on through the passage to reach the ruin. There, you’ll see the troll statue. You can activate the relic and begin to fight the miniboss. Kratos’ axe isn’t the best fit for it, but either the blades or the spear will work well.

Once you’re done, go ahead and grab the loot, including the first Slumber Stone. There are two more.

The Forbidden sands Troll Statue

In the Forbiddens Sands next to Barrens is another troll-statue. Alfheim. Once you’re able to unlock the door — again, thanks to Freya’s gift — tackle the “Song of the Sands” favor to clear the map, then head to the western corner. This spot can be found to your left, right behind some debris. To find the statue, you will need to hook up to the platform. The blades won’t be a good fit here, so either your axe or spear will do it.

Get the second Slumber Stone. Now, get ready to fight the ultimate (and hardest!) battle. fight.

Noatún’s Garden Troll Statue Location

Not one but two troll statues await you in Noatún’s Garden, which is an area found on the eastern side of the River Delta in Vanaheim. This is where you will be able to do a favor for the ghost. It will help you clear out the toxic clouds surrounding you. Once you’re ready, use the relic one more time and fight the trolls. Each one has an elemental resistance, which is fire and ice. You can use either the spear or switch between the Blades of Chaos and the Leviathan Axe depending on your needs.

This will provide all the Slumber Stones that you require. Go ahead, you can craft the armor at any blacksmith workshop.

Steinbjörn Plackart (Chest Armor)

• Skill: The “Bloodthirsty Retaliation” skill makes it so Kratos’ attacks will restore some lost health for five seconds after he takes “significant” damage — in our experience, however, this happens fairly frequently from around 75% of his health bar and downwards.

Statistical starting points:With 123 defense, rank 6 is the starting point for armor.

Steinbjörn Gauntlets (Wrist Armor)

• Skill: The “Stunning Retaliation I” skill grants moderate luck chance to stagger and cause stun damage to nearby enemies when damage is taken.

Statistical starting points:You can start the armor at rank 6 and have 22 strength and 55 defense.

Steinbjörn Waist Guard (Waist Armor)

• Skill: The “Stunning Retaliation I” skill grants moderate luck chance to stagger and cause stun damage to nearby enemies when damage is taken.

Statistical starting points:It starts at rank 6, with 77 defense.

By far, “Bloodthirsty Retaliation” is the most interesting skill of the bunch. In theory, “Stunning Retaliation I” should be a good companion, and it is to some extent. But since the primary ability focuses on recovering health, we’re going to capitalize on that as much as possible.

In order to establish the best Steinbjörn build, we recommend wearing the Steinbjörn PlackartAlongside the Raven Tears BracersAnd Girdle of Raven Tears. The latter two (which are obtained by hunting down Odin’s Ravens) grant the “Healing Efficacy II” skill, which increases healing from healthstones, rage, and gear.

The neat detail of the Raven Tears’ pieces is that their skill also applies to runic attacks. Ideally, you’re going to want to look for attacks that can sustain damage for a few seconds so the healing persists while Bloodthirsty Retaliation is active. If you’re still in need of health in the process, expose yourself to another hit and continue the combo. Remember that basics attacks will still apply, but you’re going to get better healing overall from rage or runic attacks.

Below are some suggestions for runic attacks that would work with this build.

• Wrath of the Frost Ancient Light runic attack for the axe — creates an ice beam that frosts enemies on contact.
• The Mists Of Helheim Heavy runic attack for the axe — creates an area of effect attack that deals frost continuously for a few seconds.
• Fog of Fimbulwinter Heavy runic attack for the axe — creates an ice wave that deals frost damage to enemies in front of you.
• The Flames of Anguish Light runic attack for the blades — creates a fire geyser in front of you.
• Atlas Eruption: Heavy runic attack for the blades — works similarly to Flames of Anguish, but it’s focused on close-quarter attacks instead.
• The Artillery for the Ancients Heavy runic attack for the spear — creates a rain of spears on an area in front of you.

There are a few different options to choose from, and as always, it’s best if you actually upgrade the runic attacks to increase their duration, area of effect, or both. Keep in mind that even within the Norse realms, a hunter will always be a hunter.
