How to get sunset fireflies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Sunset fireflies can be found throughout Hyrule, but only at nighttime, only in certain areas, and during temperate conditions (they won’t spawn in cold areas, or while it’s raining). It can be difficult to find them, and even more so if you want to catch them. There are some good locations to farm sunset fireflies, and Beedle will sell you a couple.

Here’s where to find sunset fireflies across Hyrule.

Sunset Firefly Locations

Only at night can you find sunset fireflies, which are mainly found in areas that have ponds and wetlands. You can spot a few Sunset Fireflies early on in the game near East Castle Town’s ponds. Other places, you’ll find clusters or sunset fireflies. Tears of KingdomYou can find a map here:

• Faron Woods & Pagos Woods are located in the Faron Region
• Rutile Lake southwest of Satori Mountain
• Hopper Pond west of Forest of Spirits
• Keya Pond is located north of Dunsel Plateau

Make sure to rest at a campfire until nighttime if you’re going sunset firefly hunting!

Sunset fireflies: How to capture them

If you spot one, walk steadily and slowly towards it. Sunset fireflies fly off if approached too fast. Crouch down by pushing in the L-stick to sneak up. Sunset fireflies are often seen in groups that deceive their true numbers. You may catch only two or three fireflies despite seeing a dozen at one location.

Sunset Fireflies: Where can I buy them?

Beedle, the merchant, will sell you fireflies at sunset. You can find him at Highland Stable — conveniently near Pyper’s side quest and the Faron region, where sunset fireflies are abundant — but he’ll only sell three at a time. Each firefly costs 10 rupees. You can buy fireflies by staying at an Inn. Beedle restocks every 24 hour period of game time.
