How to find the Light Dragon location in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

There are multiple dragons located around the map, but while most navigate through specific regions, this one constantly circles the entirety of Hyrule’s skies.

Alongside having some useful materials if you manage to get close to it, the Light Dragon is perhaps the most important, as this is where you will find the Master Sword, Link’s iconic weapon. Light Dragon Path and Location

The Light Dragon can be found in multiple places. If you’ve been focusing on the main story, you can pinpoint the Master Sword’s locationFind all 12 Dragon Tear locations. This method is time-consuming, but there are less laborious ways to do it.

You can do this by going through the Lost Woods to the Korok Forest. After reaching the Korok Forest, defeat Gloom Hands or Phantom Ganon to assist Deku Tree. Emerge victorious, and after talking with the Deku Tree, you’ll have access to the “Recovering the Hero’s Sword” main quest.

The Deku Tree is a great help in this quest. Mark the Light Dragon’s location on the map. As long as you select the quest in your Adventure Log, you’ll see where the dragon is at all times, which is of great help.

Keep in mind that once you’ve recovered the Master Sword and the quest is complete, the marker will dissipate. If you want to be able to easily locate the Light Dragon to farm materials from it (more on this later), you might want to hold off on getting Link’s emblem weapon.

The other way is, plain and simple, to stumble upon the dragon as you’re roaming around the map. It’s not required to have the related quest in order to find it.

That said, it’s recommended you complete the Korok Forest quest, as this will mean the Light Dragon will fly lower to the ground. As such, you’ll be able to get to it just by using a nearby Skyview Tower to lift Link up to the sky. Until you complete the quest, there’s a chance that the dragon will be flying at the same height as the Sky Islands, for example, which will make the task significantly harder.

Light Dragon jumps: How to do it?

You can quickly travel to Skyview Tower if you see the dragon in the wild. This could be by accident or because the quest marker is active. Taking this travel shortcut won’t affect the dragon’s position, resulting in a great method to get closer. Then activate the tower and lift Link to the sky. Paraglide to the Light Dragon.

To make things even simpler, clear out Deku Forest before you start. The dragon will be able to fly nearer the ground and therefore easier to see from a high tower.

In the case that any nearby towers are quite far from the dragon you’re attempting to reach, you can always attempt to get to a Sky Island. Use your arrows if you see sky rocks that are falling. Recall Jump on the paragliders to get altitude. To get up close to a dragon, jump off of the island with your paraglider.

The dragon’s movement is quite slow, but if at any point you fall off from its back, quickly opening your paraglider will lift you upwards again, as there are wind currents surrounding the dragon’s body.

Light Dragon material list and the best farming methods

The dragons are similar to those in Zelda: The Tears Of the KingdomThe Light Dragon can provide you with a variety of materials. The materials you obtain will vary depending on the part of the dragon you choose to use.

Here are all the products you can buy from Light Dragon in a single glance:

• Shard of Light Dragon’s Spike: Picked up from the dragon’s back, near its spikes. They are usually eight at once.
• Light Dragon’s Scale: Obtained from hitting the dragon anywhere on its body — except its mouth, feet, or horns — with either a melee or a ranged weapon.
• Shard of Light Dragon’s Fang: Obtained by hitting the dragon’s mouth.
• Light Dragon’s Talon: Obtained by hitting any of the dragon’s feet.
• Light Dragon’s Horn: Obtained by hitting the dragon’s horns with either a melee or a ranged weapon.

Like other dragons you are only able to get one type of material at a given time from the Light Dragon. You will see the glowing glow disappear after you’ve done so. The glow around its body will disappear. Materials will drop in 10 minutes.. Once the specified time has passed, its glow will appear again, signaling that you may grab another one. Remember that you can stop the hidden timer by pausing your game.

Grabbing a Shard of Light Dragon’s Spike, Light Dragon’s Scale, or Light Dragon’s Horn is quite simple. It is easy to grab a shard or scale of Light Dragon’s Spike, Light Dragon Scale, or even the Horn of a light dragon by staying on top of it.

You can also check out the Shard of Light Dragon’s Fang, you’ll need to aim at its mouth. You can also slow time by moving to his head and dropping in the air. Then, aim at the dragon’s mouth, and the item will drop. It will stay in place for a few seconds — if you don’t pick it up on the spot, it will simply fall to the ground. The same method can be used to get the Light Dragon’s Talon. As the wind is always blowing around the dragon, you can use the paraglider and drop from its back to remain afloat. I recommend attacking the legs from the front, and getting as close as possible, as there’s a chance for the arrow to hit the body instead. It’s by far the most tricky body part to farm, but it’s only a matter of practice.

You can use the most efficient farming technique by staying on top of the Dragon and leaving the game idle. If you do this, the only thing that can happen is an Aerocuda will attack, or an electric storm may occur, leaving Link exposed to lightning.

The alternative is to note the Light Dragon’s location on your map, and go somewhere else. Then, after the 10 minutes are up, you can jump back on the Skyview Tower. Repeat the process. As mentioned, the dragon’s movement is fairly slow, which should hopefully make it easier. But if you can, let Link rest for a while on top of the creature, and you’ll be getting six materials an hour or so.
