How Lords of the Fallen Expands Upon the Original Cult Classic

Since our first teaser of gameplay, we have come a long way. Lords of the Fallen The Game Awards was held last year. We were overwhelmed by the positive response from players around the world who hungered for more details — today we’re more than willing to meet your craving with new details and an all-new gameplay trailer featuring the lords of metal themselves, Iron Maiden.

This new trailer takes you into Mournstead. A world divided between the worlds of the living and dead. It is a place of evil and malevolence.

A Dark Fantasy Narrative

We are committed to creating an environment that is safe and secure for everyone. Lords of the Fallen has always been the dark world of Mournstead — we want you to become enveloped and engorged by the dark fantasy narrative, a world dripping with atmosphere and history. Our religious theme is woven into both the gameplay and the narrative to ground the game. It also drives the character’s actions in all of the events shown in Lords of the Fallen.

In the opening cinematic you’ll meet one of the three faiths, the Dark Crusaders, who who kneel before the First Luminary Casilium. Any religion can be a part of the game. Lords of the FallenCasilium’s war priests, self-righteous aphotic warriors, are the ones who demand the most faith. You can clearly see their reverence for the better as they accept the blessing of red to sanctify their bloodshed in accordance with the holy Orian church.

An Interconnected and Vast World

From the very beginning you’ll realize that Mornstead has a lot more to it than meets the eye. An Umbral revenant is trapped between two opposing worlds – one inhabited by the living and another populated with a hellscape rife with manifest corruption. The linchpin of this dual existence is the Umbral Lamp, which fuels an array of dark abilities, allowing you to exist with one foot in each world — transition between realms or flay the souls of the living. Peeling back the Umbral layer and mastering dark powers will lead you to a dark and grim journey filled with conflict.

Explosive Combat

Lords of the FallenThe ranged attacks are more varied, with spells and crossbows as well as throwable javelins or axes. It is now faster and easier to use, with the same grim fantasy medieval theme as the rest of the world.

The combat system is intuitive and fluid from the very first game, making it easy to pick up and play. If you are willing to learn the system, then you can be the god of death, switching seamlessly between swings and stances, or charging attacks. You can also use Umbral Lamps on the go, without having to change weapons.
