High On Life is a Hilarious Sci-Fi Shooter From Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland

Working on games that interest me is my passion. I didn’t always get to do that at every studio I’ve been at but joining the team at Squanch Games has really been great in that respect. Justin Roiland (“Rick and Morty,” “Solar Opposites”) co-founded our studio, and we’ve been bringing his unique sensibilities to life in games like the award-winning Trover saves the universeAnd Accounting+. We’re really excited to share our latest game with you all: It’s High on Life. It’s a first-person shooter, with a real step up into A-level comedy you don’t see in video games. We’ve also got top-notch action, alien bounty hunting, and large worlds to get lost in.

Cool, right?

This is probably something you already know. It’s High on Life you’re a bounty hunter who’s on a mission to stop an alien invasion on Earth. These interstellar cartel creeps aren’t just taking over our stuff — they’re using humans as drugs. This should be a sinking feeling for just a second. As drugs! It is here that the bounty hunter part comes in to play.

It is possible to acquire a range of sci-fi weaponry. Here’s the thing: The guns in It’s High on LifeSensible life forms also exist on another planet. Each one has a cute face and is able to talk from that cute face. It’s not just random talking, either. Your companions/guns have distinct personalities, and they’ll share their thoughts about what’s going on — even weaving their thoughts and opinions into the story in important ways. Players will also be awarded for learning how to best swap guns between them.

You’ll get to travel to a bunch of different planets, where you’ll meet strange aliens, recover valuable resources, hunt down awesome enemies, and soak up the atmosphere. We don’t want to share too much about those specific locations right now, because a lot of the fun comes down to not knowing what’s ahead. I will say that fans of “Rick and Morty”’s interdimensional cable are going to want to pay close attention to It’s High on Life.

We’ve been working hard on It’s High on LifeIt accomplishes both of our greatest goals. We want to keep you laughing with our funny games. We don’t want to just tell jokes; our games start with Justin’s creative concepts, and we collaborate to ensure that you’re constantly surprised and delighted by what’s around the corner. It’s also important that our games are super fun to play and aren’t padded out with a bunch of nonsense. You won’t! Boring nonsense. This is our first first-person shooter, and we’re proud of how it plays. It’s not a mediocre game with great jokes. It’s High on Life is a great shooter that’s also totally hilarious and weird as all get-out.
