Here’s Horizon Forbidden West running on PlayStation 4 Pro
Horizon Forbidden WestIt is still a few more weeks before the release of its sequel, however Guerrilla Games showed only the PlayStation 5 version of its game while it was cross-generation with PlayStation 4. It was revealed that the studio had changed its mind on Thursday morning and gave players a sneak peak at the new game. game running on the PlayStation 4 Pro — although the base PlayStation 4 version of the game is still a mystery.
In a new blog on PlayStation’s website, Guerrilla Games showed off a variety of short gameplay GIFs, each about 30 seconds long. It also revealed that the game has “gone gold,” meaning it’s complete and ready for launch on Feb. 18.
A slow, slow walk through Plainsong is the first gameplay clip. It’s where Alloy meets Utaru.
It is covered in fog and full of color. Forbidden West sends Aloy to California — specifically around the San Francisco area — and you can see some of that influence in the clips below. The video still looks good, even though it was run on a PlayStation 4 Pro.
This second clip features combat at Redwood National and State Parks.
Aloy takes on two Clamberjaw-type machines. She uses an explosive to destroy one of the Clamberjaw machines, and then freezes the second during slow motion slide. Then, she powers up her spear and smashes the beast.
This clip looks a bit strange, and it’s hard to tell if it’s just the GIF format or if the PlayStation 4 Pro is showing its age. There appears to be some minor slowdown in places, and the particle effects don’t look as vibrant as they do on PlayStation 5.
This final clip gives another glimpse at fighting in Forbidden West. Aloy goes up against Bristlebacks to pick them off, before blowing the last one.
The second clip seems a little more elaborate than the first, and also shows some slight slowdown.
Since these are both GIFs and promotional clips from Sony, it’s still difficult to tell just how Horizon Forbidden West It will work on the PlayStation 4 Pro. And with no clips out for the base PlayStation 4, that console’s performance also remains a mystery only a few weeks out from release.
Many people are still having difficulty finding the PlayStation 5 despite their best efforts. Horizon Forbidden WestPlayers will probably stick with the last-generation consoles. We hope that Sony and Guerrilla Games offer longer gameplay clips on the consoles of previous generations. Forbidden WestLaunched February 18.
