Hello Games’ Next Ambitious Project Won’t Be A No Man’s Sky Sequel, Outlaws Update Launches Tomorrow

No Man’s Sky is a real rags-to riches story. The game’s early trailers showed a huge universe, but it couldn’t reach its full potential due to its rough launch. No Man’s Sky, with its amazing updates and years later, is still a great experience. It’s filled with fun content such as base-building. The Outlaws update, which focuses on the dark side of the galaxy, will be available tomorrow. Sean Murray also spoke. IGNThe next big project from Hello Games and the reasons it’s not a continuation of their billion-planet adventure. You’ll find something more.

The Outlaws Update of Today was summarized briefly by a bullet point list in Sean Murray’s recent Sean Murray. tweet:

  • Outlaw Space Stations
  • Cloth Simulation
  • Outlaw Story
  • Smuggling
  • Solar Ship
  • Recruit Wingmen
  • Satellite Frigates
  • Improved Space Combat
  • Forged Passports
  • Additional Ship Slots
  • Bounty Missions
  • Planetary Pirate Raids

We have more details in a blog post. Outlaw Stations will be explored by players. They are filled with unique mission NPCs and contraband markets. Procedurally-generated Solar Ships were implemented to spice up cruiser collection, and immersive additions like thundering frigates and dramatic explosions will likely keep explorers on the edge of their seats.  You can learn more about what’s new to No Man’s Sky by watching the trailer above.

Sean Murray also shared some news IGN that Hello Games’ next project is strikingly ambitious, “Similar to No Man’s Sky, it’s the kind of project that even if we had a thousand people working on it, it’d still seem impossible.” What this new IP will be is anyone’s guess, but Hello Games has spent a long time honing their craft with No Man’s Sky’s seemingly infinite loop. In any case, it won’t be a sequel to the developer’s flagship title.
